Depok Becomes The Region With The Highest COVID-19 Death Rate In West Java
JAKARTA - Depok City is the region with the highest number of cases, incidence rate and death toll for COVID-19 in West Java Province. The first case of corona virus transmission in Indonesia also came from Depok.
Dewi Nur Aisyah, member of the Expert Team for the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling of COVID-19, Dewi Nur Aisyah, explained that based on the analysis of weekly data as of July 12, Depok has a total of 845 cases.
In second place, the highest number of cases was in Bekasi City with 586 cases. Then, in third place is the City of Bandung with a total of 428 cases.
"The highest number of cases is in Depok, then Bekasi and Bandung. The three are in the city because there are more people moving there," said Dewi in a discussion at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Wednesday, July 15.
Meanwhile, the region with the lowest cases was Tasikmalaya Regency with a total of 5 cases. The second lowest is Majalengka Regency with a total of 7 cases and the third is Banjar City with a total of 8 cases.
"The comparison is far between Depok and Tasikmalaya. There are 20 city districts and we have to see that each one has a different number. There are centers where the high cases are there," said Dewi.
In addition, Depok City is also the area with the highest incidence rate. The incidence rate is the number of COVID-19 cases divided per 100 thousand population. The incidence rate in Depok is 45.49 cases per 100 thousand population.
Then, the second highest incidence rate is Cimahi City with 25.10 cases per 100 thousand population. Then, Bekasi City with 24.05 cases per 100 thousand population.
Meanwhile, the lowest incidence rate in West Java is in Tasikmalaya Regency with 0.28 cases per 100,000 population, then Majalengka Regency with 0.54 cases per 100 thousand population, and Cianjur with 0.62 cases per 100,000 population.
"This data shows that Depok is still in the first rank in West Java. The second position is Bekasi City, but if the incidence rate is Cimahi City," said Dewi.
"In the city of Bekasi, although there are more cases, there are also more people. So, compared to per 100,000 inhabitants, he has shifted downward. Bekasi City is in third place," he continued.
Furthermore, the highest mortality rate per 100,000 population in West Java is still in Depok City with 1.78 deaths per 100,000 population. Second, Bandung City with 1.77 cases per 100,000 population, then Bogor City with 1.43 cases per 100,000 population.
Overall, Dewi said that the handling of COVID-19 in an area can be read from the position of each indicator, both the number of cases, the incidence rate and the mortality rate.
"If the mortality rate is high, we must look for the cause, whether it is the delay in handling or the lack of health facilities. Meanwhile, if the case rate is high, it means there is high transmission there," he explained.
