Selling Illegal Green Apple Blackheads Masks To The Majority Of Palembang Women, This Couple Was Arrested By The Police

SUMSEL - The Regional Police of South Sumatra (Sumsel) uncovered the circulation of illegal cosmetics suspected of containing hazardous chemicals in the city of Palembang. The perpetrators in this case are a married couple (couple), Linda Astika (27) and Supardi (31).

Wadirkrimsus Polda Sumsel AKBP Ferry Harahap said the two were arrested when officers carried out an undercover buy on Jalan Balayudha Ario Kemuning, Kemuning District, last Monday, September 6. The perpetrator is a resident of Jalan Sriwijaya Raya, Karya Jaya Village, Kertapati District, Palembang.

"The two suspects were arrested at the same time while delivering evidence to undercover officers," said Ferry in Palembang, Antara, Thursday, September 23.

Officers also secured a number of evidences in the form of 2,280 whitening scrubs 'ogi wajo' branded Ratu Ds, 35 pieces (pcs) green apple blackhead masks, 68 pcs taro blackhead masks, 72 pcs strawberry blackhead masks, and 142 pcs lemons.

"After being arrested, they were traced to the place of storage and where the goods came from. Everything was confiscated as evidence, including the red minibus with the BG1521MP number plate which was used to sell cosmetics," he added.

Based on the suspect's statement, he continued, the cosmetic evidence was purchased by the suspect Linda Astika online through the Facebook social media network from Balikpapan. Then after the item was received, he reselled the cosmetics online with a Facebook account, Linda Skincare.

Every buyer who is interested in his merchandise is given the suspect's Whatsapp number, Linda. After that the buyer is asked to provide an address for delivery of the ordered goods.

"The suspect who served as the courier is Supardi, who is none other than his husband. There are already hundreds of items for sale. The majority of buyers are women in Palembang," he said again.

This illegal cosmetic sale has been carried out by the suspect for the past year. Previously, they worked as satai traders, however, due to lack of buyers, they decided to switch professions to sell illegal cosmetics.

For the actions of the suspects, they are suspected of violating Article 196 in conjunction with Article 98 paragraph (2) and (3) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 36 Year 2009 concerning Health. Article 197 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 106 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) concerning RI Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, amendments to RI Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health.

Article 62 paragraph 1 in conjunction with article 6 paragraph 1 letter D and/or letter I of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. They can face a maximum of 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1.5 billion.
