Visit Muara Jambi Temple, Minister Nadiem: I'll Talk To The President

JAMBI - Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim promised to report the potential of Muaro Jambi Temple tourist destinations that could be global to President Joko Widodo, after his working visit to the province.

"I will talk to the President about what I saw in the Muaro Jambi Temple area, now I realize how big the potential of the Muara Jambi site is if it is developed," said Nadiem Makarim during a visit to the Muaro Jambi Temple area in Jambi, reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 22.

Nadiem explained that the Muaro Jambi temple area 500 years ago was the center of education in Asia. Muaro Jambi Temple at that time was a campus that had carried the concept of Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) since hundreds of years ago. Those who participated in the learning process at Muaro Jambi Temple came from India, China, Tibet and other Asian countries.

There are many sites in the Muaro Jambi Temple area which if developed could become sites that are admired on the world stage. Even the Borobudur Temple and other temple sites in Asia have a style and uniqueness that resembles the Muaro Jambi Temple.

Where the interconnection between the temple sites in Indonesia is very closely related to the Muaro Jambi Enshrinement Area, as well as the temple sites in Asia. In addition, the Muaro Jambi enshrinement area has an area of eight times wider than the Borobudur Temple.

"After reporting to the President, he hopes to get a consensus that Muaro Jambi Temple is one of the priority areas for tourist destinations in Indonesia," said Nadiem Makarim.

Currently, only about 11 percent of the Muaro Jambi Temple area has been restored. So it requires support from the Central Government to restore the Muaro Jambi Enshrinement area.

To support the restoration of the Muaro Jambi Temple area, Nadiem encourages MBKM to be implemented in the restoration process. There are thousands of students in Indonesia who take Archeology, history and other study programs that can carry out MBKM in the Muaro Jambi Temple area.

Not only cross-university students in Indonesia, but students from abroad can carry out MBKM in the Muaro Jambi Enshrinement area.

During his visit to the Muaro Jambi Temple area, Nadiem Makariem was accompanied by the Director General of Culture, Jambi Governor Al Haris, Muaro Jambi Regent Masnah Busro and the Jambi BPCB Head. At Kedaton Temple, the Mendikbudristekdikti participated in a dialogue with cultural activists and conservationists of the Muaro Jambi Temple, and asked for suggestions and opinions from cultural activists and conservationists of the Muaro Jambi Temple Area.
