Not Satisfied With Koeman's Performance, Barcelona Identify Xavi And Roberto Martinez
JAKARTA - Spanish League giants Barcelona are reportedly identifying Xavi Hernandez and Roberto Martinez as replacements for Ronald Koeman in the Blaugrana coaching chair.
Quoted from Antara from Football Espana, Wednesday, September 22, the emergence of this news was based on Barcelona's unsatisfactory results under coach Koeman since his arrival in August last year.
The emergence of the names of Xavi and Roberto Martinez as Koeman's replacement arises because of their good relationship with Jordi Cruyff, Head of International Talent Search at Barcelona. In addition, Jordi Cruyff is also known as one of the close advisers to Barcelona President Joan Laporta.
Some people close to Laporta reportedly believe Xavi is the right person to handle Barcelona if they end up having to part with Koeman.
However, it is estimated that Barcelona will be quite difficult to bring in Roberto Martinez because the Spanish coach is still in charge of the Belgian national team and has a fairly large compensation fee.
So far, Koeman's Barcelona in the Spanish League have won two wins and two draws which make them currently in eighth place in the standings.
In the Champions League, Barcelona had to lose to Bayern Munich with a score of 0-3 in the first match of Group E.
Koeman came to Barcelona in August 2020, replacing coach Quique Setien who was sacked after a run of poor results for the Blaugrana.
While under Koeman's tutelage, Barcelona won the Copa del Rey title in the 2020/2021 season. Koeman is also a former Barcelona player who brought the Blaugrana to the Cup Winners' Cup in the 1991/1992 season.
