Jokowi's Strict Order: No One Backing The Land Mafia!
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the government is committed to eradicating the land mafia. Thus, he reminded law enforcers no longer to protect those who harm the community.
"Don't let law enforcement officers back up the land mafia. Fight for the rights of the people and enforce the law firmly," said Jokowi when handing over the land redistribution certificate for the object of agrarian reform which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, September 22.
He also ordered the police to not hesitate to investigate the existing land mafia. "I remind you again that the government is fully committed to eradicating land mafias," said Jokowi.
Furthermore, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta wants no more agrarian conflicts involving small communities. Moreover, every year he often accepts farmer groups who fight for their rights to land.
These farmer groups, Jokowi said, came from outside the Jakarta area and some of them even walked on foot.
"I understand very well that agrarian conflicts and land disputes are serious challenges faced by all farmers and fishermen and the community in cultivating the land," he said.
"Every year I receive farmer groups who are willing to come all the way to Jakarta and some even walk to Jakarta to fight for their lands affected by agrarian conflicts," he added.
Meanwhile, in the event that coincides with the 2021 Agrarian and Spatial Planning Day, Jokowi handed over 124,120 land certificates resulting from redistribution in various regions in Indonesia. These lands are special because they have only been distributed to the community from conflict resolution, abandoned land, and the release of forest areas.
In addition to submitting certificates, he also ordered four ministries to assist the productivity of community land. The four ministries are the Ministry of Agriculture; Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration; and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises. Then the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
"Distribute assistance in the form of capital, seeds, fertilizers, and training," said Jokowi.
