The Bekasi City Government is currently starting to socialize the PeduliLindung application to managers and visitors of minimarkets or supermarkets in line with their plan to require the use of the application in all public areas.

"It is being socialized, for the safety of all. We do not want the economy to be protected, but health is also maintained, so we plan to implement the policy," said Head of the Bekasi City Industry and Trade Office, Tedy Hafni, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 22.

Tedy said, this plan is only a temporary socialization. The trial has not been carried out because the city government is still waiting for further policies from the center.

If this policy is implemented later, the technical implementation will be left entirely to the supermarket manager in Bekasi City.

"They usually have a manager, later they will be more technical, because usually there is a coordinator for each minimarket," he said.

In addition to preventing the potential for COVID-19 transmission, the implementation of this policy also aims to compare the occupancy of supermarkets with their maximum capacity, as has now been implemented in other shopping centers, namely malls and retail centers in Bekasi City.

Head of Bekasi City Satpol PP Abi Hurairah admitted that he had instructed his staff to disseminate information to supermarkets with the aim of knowing how many visitors enter Indomaret and Alfamart through the PeduliLindung application database.

"This policy has actually been implemented in malls and retails in Bekasi City. Controversy in the community will definitely exist, we leave it entirely to the policies that will later be determined," he said.

Based on the results of the temporary socialization, he said, both Indomaret and Alfamart have tried to accept the policy, although its implementation is still waiting for the decision of the manager of the supermarket manager.

"Furthermore, we will wait for the decision from the Mayor's letter (Bekasi City Mayor) and if it is enforced, there will be sanctions for minimarket managers who do not install the PeduliLindung barcode at the entrance area," he said.
