Bela Anies Baswedan, PKS Suggests PSI To Compete With Ideas And Works

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) defended the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, who was insinuated by the Acting Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Giring Ganesha.

According to the chairman of the PKS DPP, Mardani Ali Sera, Anies will not fall under criticism as a leader who cannot overcome the crisis.

"You don't fall because you're criticized and you don't fly because you're praised. Everyone is free to have an opinion," said Mardani, confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, September 22.

The member of Commission II of the DPR assessed that as a regional head, Anies only needed to focus on serving the citizens of DKI Jakarta. Thus, there is no need to respond to Giring's satire.

"Let the public judge," he said.

The DKI Jakarta legislator also advised Giring to compete with works and ideas. Moreover, he will run for president in 2024.

"It's good that our politics is filled with competition for works and ideas," said Mardani.

Previously, the Acting General Chairperson of PSI, Giring Ganesha, openly attacked the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan. Giring even called Anies a liar.

Giring's statement was uploaded by DPP PSI on the Twitter account @psi_id. The 5.03 minute video succeeded in making Giring's name trending on Twitter for calling Anies Baswedan unfit to be a 2024 presidential candidate.

In his statement, Giring clearly assessed that Anies Baswedan was not an example of a leader who could overcome a crisis.

"In a crisis a true leader must do his best to save the greater interest," Giring said.

"Governor Anies Baswedan is not an example of a person who can overcome a crisis," he said. The main indicator of Anies Baswedan's failure, according to Giring, is seeing the way the Jakarta Governor spends public money during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Giring even accused Anies of using the Jakarta APBD for his personal interests in preparation for his 2024 presidential election.
