Six Police Persecuting Kuli Bangunan Sarpan Immediately Discipline

JAKARTA - The case of alleged procedural violations that led to the assault of a construction worker, Sarpan, by 6 police officers has started the filing stage. The police officers will undergo a disciplinary hearing process.

Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Tatan Dirsan Atmaja, said that investigators from the North Sumatra Police Propam would send the file to the Medan Police. So, in the near future they will immediately undergo a disciplinary hearing. For the time being, one of the six police officers, namely Otniel Siahaan, has been removed from his position as Kapolsek Percut Sei Tuan.

"It has entered the filing stage and will soon be sent for a disciplinary hearing," Tatan told VOI, Tuesday, July 14.

Meanwhile, regarding the alleged assault on Sarpan to force him to admit to being the murderer, Tatan has not been able to provide additional information. He said that this could only be proven during the disciplinary hearing.

"So far, there are still allegations that they have carried out a procedural error. However, later to prove it, it will remain in a disciplinary hearing," said Tatan.

Meanwhile, for the case of persecution experienced by Sarpan, it is said that it is still in the investigation stage. This is because cases of persecution and procedural violations are based on different reports.

In addition, Tatan said, the North Sumatra Regional Police were also investigating reports of alleged criminal beatings experienced by Sarpan. He said the investigation into the alleged beating was carried out separately from the case of alleged procedural violations.

"(The alleged persecution) is still in the process of being investigated because there are different or separate reports," concluded Tatan.

This case began when 6 high-ranking Percut Sei Tuan Police were questioned by the North Sumatra Police Propam Division (North Sumatra). They were examined in connection with the alleged persecution of Sarpan, one of the witnesses in the murder case.

The senior officers of the Sei Tuan Percut Police are, the Percut Police Chief, Sei Tuan, the Siahaan Otniel Police, the Percut Police Criminal Investigation Unit for the Percut Police, Luis Beltran and the Criminal Investigation Committee.

Based on information, it was suspected that Sarpan was tortured by several police in the detention cell of the Percut Sei Tuan Police, Deli Serdang Police, North Sumatra. In fact, the persecution started from being beaten to electric shocks.

In fact, Sarpan is not a criminal. The man who is a resident of Jalan Sidomulyo Pasar IX Dusun XIII Sei Rotan Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, is only a witness of a murder case.

However, by means of this persecution, Sarpan was asked to admit that he was the perpetrator of the murder of Dodi Somanto which occurred on Thursday, July 2.
