Launching Later This Year, Google Pixel Fold Is Claimed To Have Adopted The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Design
JAKARTA - Folding or folding phones are indeed a smartphone trend this year. No doubt, Google is also planning to launch the Pixel Fold before the end of the year, or around the fourth quarter (Q4) 2021.
The Pixel Fold is known to be the company's first foldable phone, which is claimed to be more eye-catching than the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro which will be released this fall.
Reports of the Pixel Fold rolling out between October and December come from an often reliable source, Evan Blass, otherwise known as @evleaks on Twitter, and code found in Google's upcoming Android 12.1. .
Unlike the Pixel 5a and Pixel 6 which leaked several times before being officially announced, not much has been leaked about the Pixel Fold. It will most likely share the same Tensor chip as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, offering performance that could match or even exceed the Snapdragon 888 if Google plays its cards right.
The screen itself is expected to come with ultra-thin glass (UTG), and be made with an LTPO OLED panel, like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 and Galaxy Fold 3. To maintain the same design style as the Galaxy Z Fold series, the Pixel Fold will have both an internal and an external display.
Unfortunately, there's no information about the camera, but Google has done a good job on all of its phones to date, so it doesn't hurt to expect excellent camera performance as usual.
As for the software, Google has done some work optimizing Android for foldable devices, the company will be doing a bit more with Android 12.1.
Currently, Google is reportedly testing another foldable device, although it's unclear if the giant plans to launch one or both devices. There has been speculation that one foldable device might be designed like the Galaxy Z Flip series, while another will look more like the Galaxy Fold.
However, Google has never dominated the hardware market in the same way it has for software, the company has never been shy about bucking trends and doing what could be considered risky.
For example, it's like Google's original Pixel laptop, its approach to Pixel phones, and other weird devices like the Pixel Slate. With a foldable device about to roll out, Google has sent its intent to enter the market.
