House Of Representatives Commission III Consensus 7 Of 11 Candidates For Supreme Court Justices Passed The Fit And Proper Test, Here's The List!
JAKARTA - The House of Representatives Commission III agreed on 7 of the 11 candidates for Supreme Court justices after carrying out the fit and proper test which will then be presented at the DPR Plenary Meeting, Tuesday, September 21.
Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Herman Herry, said that the process of selecting candidates for Supreme Court justices was carried out professionally and transparently so that judges with credibility and integrity were chosen.
"Commission III has carried out a transparent fit and proper test process," said Herman, Tuesday, September 21.
Herman continued, the 7 candidates for Supreme Court justices were an agreement from all factions in Commission III of the DPR. Where, he said, each faction has the same right in approving or rejecting candidates for Supreme Court justices.
"Each faction has its own judgment in assessing each candidate, but we have agreed that in this process we focus on three aspects, namely the candidate's understanding of the duties and functions as a supreme judge, the candidate's integrity, and track record," he explained.
The PDIP politician hopes that the seven candidates for the Supreme Court justices will be able to carry out their duties properly and uphold a sense of justice for all Indonesian people.
“Commission III congratulates the honorable justices who have been elected. As the highest judge, I hope you will always be a bulwark in maintaining the aspirations of justice for all Indonesian people," said Herman.
To note, the Judicial Commission has selected candidates for Supreme Court justices from February to August 2021. Recruitment is open for both career judges and the public, in accordance with Law Number 18 of 2011 and Judicial Commission Regulation Number 2 of 2016 concerning Selection of Candidates for Supreme Court Justices.
Based on Article 24A paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution, the eleven candidates for Supreme Court justices were submitted to the DPR for approval and appointed as Supreme Court justices by President Joko Widodo.
The following are the candidates for Supreme Court justices that were agreed at level I in Commission III of the DPR and will then be presented at the Plenary Meeting:

4. Suharto, SH, M. Hum. (As a Candidate for Supreme Court Justices of the Criminal Chamber)
5. Yohanes Priyana, SH, MH (As Candidate for Supreme Court Justices of the Criminal Chamber)
6. Dr. H. Haswandir, SH, M. Hum., MM as Candidates for Supreme Court Justices of the Civil Chamber)
7. Brigadier General Dr. Tama Ulinta Br Tarigan, SH, M.Kn. (As Candidate for Military Chamber Judge)
