Made In China, Tesla Model Y Coming Soon In Australia

JAKARTA - The Tesla Model Y will soon be launched in Australia and will be the manufacturer's fourth model in the local market. The electric SUV was recently approved for sale by the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications.

According to techAU, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications has listed three variants of the Tesla Model Y to hit the country's roads. For now, the manufacturer's compact SUV is the only model yet to arrive in Australia. However, once registered, the Model Y can be said to be on its way.

The Tesla Model Y is now approved under the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 (RVSA). According to the document, three Model Y variants have been approved for sale: Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance. All variants are equipped with five seats, meaning that those who want to get seven seats will have to wait longer, as is the case in other markets.

The approval was issued on September 15, meaning Tesla should soon launch an online order configurator for the Model Y. While there is currently no data on the country of production of the compact electric SUVs slated for Australia, they are expected to be produced at the Giga. Shanghai, China. Currently, all US-made Model 3s and Ys are sold in North America, while Chinese-made cars are shipped worldwide.
