5 Persib Players Are Called By The National Team, Robert Alberts: They Can Still Play Against Borneo FC And Tira Persikabo

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung coach Robert Rene Alberts said his team could still feature players who were called up to the national team in the 2021 Liga 1 continuation match against Borneo FC and Tira Persikabo

Quoted by Antara from Persib's official website, Monday, Robert said there had been an agreement with Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) regarding players who were called up by the national team's TC (training center).

As is known, five Persib players previously received a call to undergo a national team training camp in Jakarta on September 19-30, 2021.

The five players are Bayu Mohamad Fiqri, Ezra Harm Ruud Walian, Febri Hariyadi, M Aqil Savik, and Victor Igbonefo.

However, the Blue Prince squad is still given the opportunity to play them in the fourth-week match against Borneo FC, Thursday, September 23, and the fifth match against Persikabo, next Monday.

"We have agreed with PSSI. After the match on 23 (September), the next day, which is 24 (September), players can join the national team for one day," said Robert.

After that, the Dutch coach said the players would rejoin Maung Bandung to prepare for the match against Persikabo.

This certainty, according to Robert, is based on regulations in Liga 1 this season regarding the use of a number of players who have been called up to the Indonesian national team.

It is believed that this will also help the club in playing matches in the League 1 competition.

"PSSI clearly says that if four or more players from a club are called up by the national team, the club does not need to release the player three days before the club plays. So, they are still with us to make preparations," said Robert.

However, he ensured that goalkeeper M Aqil Savik could undergo a longer training camp program with the national team than the other four Persib players.

"Aqil is different. We invite Aqil to join the national team if they need him because in the goalkeeper sector, we have quite good depth," concluded Robert.
