Banten Shaken By Earthquake, No Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 again shook Banten, Tuesday, July 14 at around 07.04 WIB. The earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded the location of the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 magnitude at 6.97 LS, 106.09 BT 18 km southwest of Bayah Banten with a depth of 81 Km.

Although there is no potential for a tsunami, BMKG urges the public to remain vigilant. "Be careful of aftershocks that may occur," the appeal was quoted as saying by BMKG.go.id

Some people in South Tangerang to be precise at Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) also felt the earthquake. This is as conveyed by the Twitter account @ Heripurwanto26. "You really have an earthquake in BSD, Tangsel," he said.

Previously, on July 7, 2020, Banten was also shaken by an earthquake. Even on that day, three earthquakes occurred in Indonesia.
