Menpora Amali Conveys Jokowi's Message When Visiting Badminton Legend Verawaty Fajrin At The Hospital
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali visited Indonesian badminton legend, Verawaty Wiharjo, also known as Verawaty Fajrin.
Verawaty is lying sick at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital in Jakarta due to lung cancer.
When he arrived at the location, Menpora Amali, who was accompanied by Deputy IV for Sports Achievement Improvement, Chandra Bhakti and a number of Kemenpora ranks, was greeted by the President Director of the Dharmais National Cancer Center, dr. R. Soeko W. Nindito D., MARS and Verawaty's husband, Fajrin.
To Verawaty, Menpora Amali said that he had come to represent President Joko Widodo and conveyed greetings from the president.
"I came to this hospital at the same time conveying greetings from the President. So earlier, the President said that I should immediately come to this hospital to visit Mrs. Verawati," said Minister of Youth and Sports Amali, quoted from a written statement, Monday, September 20.
In addition, Minister of Youth and Sports Amali wanted to ensure how the hospital handled the athlete who won the SEA Games gold medal.
"The treatment was good, extraordinary, handled by a team at the Dharmais Cancer Hospital," he said.
Menpora Amali conveyed to Verawaty's family and the hospital that all medical expenses were borne by the government.
"I convey to the family as well as the President Director, please take maximum care of it and the government will take care of everything. So there is no problem, because we know that Mrs. Verawaty is an Indonesian badminton legend, so the government pays attention and appreciation," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Verawaty's family, represented by her husband, Fajrin, expressed their gratitude for the visit of Minister of Youth and Sports Amali to his wife. Thanks were also conveyed to President Joko Widodo.
"Alhamdulillah, the Minister of Youth and Sports visited on behalf of the president, handling Mrs. Vera's treatment. I thank Mrs. Vera to Mr. Jokowi. His help and attention is so great, I hope this is a charity of his worship," he concluded.
Fajrin revealed that his wife had started to cheer up and talk after being visited by the Minister of Youth and Sports Amali.
"Alhamdulillah, she is cheerful, hopefully the spirit will continue to find herself. I hope the public, please pray for the recovery of Verawaty's mother," he said.
