Southeast Minahasa Hit By Flash Flood, District Government Declares Disaster Emergency
MINAHASA TENGGARA - The district government (Pemkab) of Southeast Minahasa, North Sulawesi, has declared a disaster emergency status after the flash flood that hit two sub-districts.
"Seeing the impact of this flash flood, we from the Southeast Minahasa Regency Government have declared a disaster emergency status," said Southeast Minahasa Regent James Sumendap in Ratahan, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 20.
James said the areas where the flash flood occurred were Ratahan and East Ratahan Districts due to flooding in the Palaus and Abuang rivers.
James revealed that the number of houses damaged, namely in Ratahan District, was nine houses, while in East Ratahan there were 53 houses.
"This is still temporary data because the Regional Disaster Management Agency is still collecting data in the field," said James, who had visited the disaster site.
The Southeast Minahasa Regency Government has also received confirmation from the North Sulawesi Regional Police, and the Minahasa Kodim to send disaster management personnel.
"The Deputy Governor has also informed him to send a team from BPBD and the Public Works Agency to help with post-disaster management," said James.
