15 Minutes Of The Alleged Bribery Transaction Of Azis Syamsuddin And Robin As KPK Investigators

JAKARTA - Stepanus Robin Pattuju has been to the house of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin four times when he was still a KPK investigator. From the house of this Golkar politician, Robin brought some money.

This was revealed when Agus Susanto, who is also Robin's former driver, testified at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, September 20.

"Once escorted Mr. Robin to meet Azis Syamsuddin 4 times. First August 2020 at 08.00 WIB or 09.00 WIB I was directed to the PTIK dormitory, at first I wanted to take a shower but he (Robin) had work that was canceled, then asked for a backpack containing clothes taken out and filled with empty cardboard from the canteen and directed to Mr. Azis' house, the car was parked in Azis's house, Mr. Robin then brought the cardboard inside," Agus Susanto said as reported by Antara.

Agus, who was a member of the Indonesian National Police from 2002-2011, admitted that he had known Robin since 2018, but communication did not continue. Agus just got back in touch with Robin in August 2020 and was made a driver by Robin.

"Mr. Robin was at Mr. Azis' residence for about 15 minutes, then Mr. Robin got into the car with a backpack filled with cardboard and brought a black 'goody bag'," said Agus.

When Robin took out the contents of the "goody bag" it turned out to be money.

"Along the way he opened the 'goody bag', it turned out that the money I saw was the first time because it was black and other colors, but I didn't know what currency it was because I was focused on driving," added Agus.

Agus said Robin explained that the money was related to the management of the Azis Syamsuddin case.

"What is clear is that to help with Mr. Azis's case, this is the first transaction," said Agus.

Agus then took Robin to a "money changer" to exchange US$64 thousand and 7,600 Singapore dollars on August 5, 2020.

"Then from there directly to this court (Central Jakarta District Court)," added Agus.

"In the BAP, you mentioned 'Furthermore, some of the money was put into Mr. Robin's wallet and partly into the 'goody bag' and then exchanged for the 'money changer'. Robin told me that Azis Syamsuddin asked for help from Mr. Robin but I don't understand what he meant. Correct?" asked the prosecutor.

"That's right," replied Agus.

Agus then returned to take Robin to Agus' house on Jalan Denpasar Raya in February 2021.

"That happened at night, previously there was communication that was built between Mr. Stepanus Robin and the foster father of Mr. Stepnaus. I took him to the residence of the foster father, Mr. Azis, he came down. In connection with the house, there seemed to be other activities, certain people were gathered," said Agus.

While waiting for Azis, Robin mentioned that at that time at Azis Syamsuddin's residence there was a Golkar DPP meeting.

"Not long after that, Mr. Stepanus was called and told to come in. After that, he was there, like at first he brought a 'goody bag' again in brown color. We immediately exchanged dollars to a money changer for transactions. So look for an exchange location that has 'cash' near the Mangga Besar Roundabout," explained Agus.

"In the BAP, you say, 'Mr. Stepanus Robin said that the money was from Azis Syamsuddin to help manage the case of Rita Widyasari who is being held in a women's and children's prison in Tangerang? Is that right?' asked the KPK prosecutor.

"Yes, there is a connection with the certificate, from what I understand it is for Mrs. Rita's guarantee to Mr. Azis by handing over the certificate to Mr. Azis," said Agus.

In this case, Robin and Maskur were charged with receiving from M Syahrial an amount of Rp. 1,695 billion, Azis Syamsudin and Aliza Gunado in the amount of Rp. 3,099,887,000 and 36 thousand US dollars, Ajay Muhammad Priatna in the amount of Rp. 507.39 million, Usman Effendi in the amount of Rp. 525 million and Rita Widyasari amounted to Rp5,197,800,000, bringing the total bribe to Rp11.5 billion.
