Anies Asks DKI Residents To Emulate The Spirit Of The Ikada Giant Meeting Event To Deal With The Pandemic
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan held a commemoration ceremony for the 76th Ikada Giant Meeting at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta with the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government. The ceremony was also followed virtually.
In his remarks, Anies said that the ceremony was held to commemorate the event of the Ikada Giant Meeting on September 19, 1945, which strengthened Indonesia's standing since the era of independence.
At that time, said Anies, as many as 300 thousand people gathered at Ikada Field out of a total of 623 thousand residents of Jakarta. Half the population of Jakarta at that time voiced the independence that was proclaimed a month earlier.
"Japanese forces are shaking, Dutch forces that have just arrived in Tanjung Priok and Kemayoran are shaking. They can't imagine 300 thousand people gathering in one field, young and old, men and women, including children and all saying we are ready to fight all of you. ," said Anies, Monday, September 20.
According to Anies, the incident had a strong impact on the people's desire for independence. Both the people and their leaders, they have the same aspirations to fight the invaders.
"Today we commemorate it not just to remember. The word of warning is to remind us today that this event illustrates the unity of the government with the people. How the people have the same aspirations as their leaders, the opponent is colonialism," said Anies.
Therefore, Anies asked his staff to implement the spirit of all elements of society in the event of the Ikada Giant Meeting to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still hitting today.
"Now we have to take lessons from the Ikada incident. The lesson is that success in war in defending independence is through the unity of the people together with the government," he said.
To the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government and all DKI residents, Anies said that success in tackling the pandemic cannot only be done by the government or only by the community. However, it must be done together.
"Today we are taking the same steps, between those in the government together with all the people working together to solve this pandemic. It is not enough to leave it to the government alone and cannot be left to the community alone. Joint work is needed," he concluded.
