Seeing Bank Mandiri's Readiness To Face Christmas And New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - Christmas and New Year celebrations usually see an increase in demand for cash and a boom in transactions at Indonesian banks. One of the state-owned banks, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, is ready for this, where the company prepares funds for the period December 2, 2019 to January 2, 2020 amounting to IDR 33.5 trillion.

Director of Consumer and Retail Transactions of Bank Mandiri, Hery Gunardi in Jakarta, Monday, December 16, said that the funds increased by 26 percent compared to the normal period or the regular period. Of this amount, said Hery, his party allocates around 85% for funding needs at ATM machines, while 15% for needs at branch offices.

He even projects that the number of transactions during the 2019 Christmas Holidays and New Year 2020 will increase to 2,725 per second. This figure is a jump from the average number of Bank Mandiri transactions, which only reached 800-1,000 transactions per second.

"Basically, if it is at the end of the year to be precise before Christmas, transactions will increase," said Hery.

Hery said the number of transactions would take place one day before Christmas, or to be precise on December 24, 2019. Where, he said, on that day many people withdrew their money, both at ATMs and at Mandiri branches.

"The explosion occurred before Christmas day on December 24th. There were many transactions, in cash or electronic form. The jump occurred on the 23rd as well. But it is still in a safe corridor," he said.

The amount of funds prepared for the Christmas and New Year holidays this year amounted to IDR 33.5 trillion, relatively stagnant compared to last year's IDR 33.6 trillion.

"The relatively stable amount of cash readiness is due to the increasing number of electronic or digital transactions made by the public, for example for shopping, many people use digital transactions," said Hery.

Currently, Bank Mandiri has 18,291 Mandiri ATMs connected to the ATM Link network, ATM Bersama, ATM Prima and Visa / Plus throughout Indonesia to serve customers' cash needs.

"Anticipating an increase in customer transactions via ATM machines this holiday season, from December 9 to December 31 2019, Bank Mandiri will optimize the ATM filling limit," said Hery.

This step, said Hery, will be complemented by the implementation of a monitoring system for cash adequacy and the operation of ATM machines so that they can continue to meet the needs of the community.

In addition to the ATM network, Hery added that his party has also set up an electronic banking network, such as Mandiri Online, SMS Banking and Call Center 14000 facilities to help customers make financial transactions, including payment of monthly obligations.

"All 24-hour banking services provide a means that allows customers to make transactions to find out account information, transfer transactions, payment transactions for electricity, water, telephone / mobile phones, credit cards, airplane and train tickets, taxes, education, insurance, pay television, internet. , or purchasing credit refills, "he said.

For the joint holiday on December 24, 2019 and Christmas day on December 25, 2019, Bank Mandiri operates as many as 206 branches throughout Indonesia in turn to provide limited services, including payments related to Pertamina gas station services. In details, 128 branches on December 24 and 78 branches on December 25.

Meanwhile, at the New Year celebration, 414 branch offices will be operated throughout Indonesia, with 324 branches on December 31 and 90 branches on January 1, 2020.
