It's Time For Bekasi City Government To Evaluate Bantargebang TPS With Anies Baswedan
JAKARTA - The contract for the management of the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) between the DKI Provincial Government and the Bekasi City Government will expire next month. Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi will first evaluate the cooperation contract.
"The Bekasi City Government is evaluating the cooperation because this October will end," said Mayor Rahmat Effendi in Bekasi, Monday, September 20.
Rahmat said, the cooperation contract agreement for the management of the waste disposal site was prepared by the two local governments based on a period of once every five years. Bekasi wants an integrated waste disposal site that uses renewable energy, namely into electricity, into coal briquettes.
"In order to reduce the pile of garbage," he said.
Rahmat said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently discussing the clauses of the cooperation contract agreement for the next five years.
"We have coordinated with DKI, indeed it will be evaluated every five years," he said as quoted by Antara.
Rahmat admitted that recently the Bantargebang TPST land has been expanded by about 15 hectares or to 125 hectares in total. The expansion of the TPST area, he said, remains a concern, especially for the living conditions of the people who depend on the location even though the location is now able to accommodate more waste.
"One of the concerns is the fate of the scavengers. There have been several incidents of scavengers being buried by landslides," he said.
