L'Equipe Reveals Messi's Salary At PSG, Leonardo Angry: Respect Us!

JAKARTA - Lionel Messi moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Now, the Argentina captain's salary at the French club for the next three years has been revealed.

French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Messi would earn 30 million euros each in his first two seasons at the Parc de Princes. This figure goes up by another 10 million euros if he stays in the third year.

This figure is almost exactly the same as that obtained by Neymar, who has just extended his contract until 2025. However, the Brazilian's new contract has not increased. On the other hand, it will decrease over time.

These figures do not include individual and team bonuses that can be earned per season.

The most unusual aspect of the deal is the fact that Messi will be paid one million euros per year via cryptocurrency club PSG Fan Token.

The club signed a deal with Crypto.com and will make a profit of between 25 and 30 million euros per season.

Meanwhile, PSG sporting director Leonardo criticized L'Equipe for the article. He called the claim false.

"We cannot accept what is on the cover (front) of a newspaper like L'Equipe," Leonardo said, as reported by MARCA, Monday, September 20.

"It is completely wrong. Please respect us. We don't like it. This is very far from the truth, in terms of duration and number," he concluded.
