Faraoni's Long-range Shot Marks AS Roma's First Defeat In The Mourinho Era
JAKARTA - Verona forced AS Roma to swallow their first defeat in Jose Moruinho's coaching era after beating their visitors 3-2 in the fourth week of the Italian League match at the Marc'Antonio Bentegodi Stadium, Sunday local time.
The result ended Roma's clean sweep record in the first three games of the season, as well as Verona's first win this season.
Launching Antara, Monday, Verona jumped up to 14th in the standings with three points, while Roma, who failed to add to their collection of nine points, had to settle for being stuck in second place.
Roma were actually able to lead 1-0 over the hosts until halftime thanks to Lorenzo Pellegrini's goal completing Rick Karsdorp's cross in the 36th minute.
But that lead was lost four minutes into the second half when Antonin Barak cleared a set piece situation with a close-range effort to rip through the Roma goal.
Then in the 54th minute, the hosts managed to take the lead through Gianluca Caprari's goal who took advantage of a pass from Ivan Ilic to make the position 2-1 for Verona.
Unfortunately the advantage did not last long because four minutes later Verona failed to anticipate a Roma counter-attack, which ended up with Ilic's own goal.
However, Verona immediately cleaned up and in the 63rd minute they managed to restore the advantage through Davide Faraoni's long-range shot which nestled in the top right corner of the goal beyond the reach of goalkeeper Rui Patricio's save.

Roma struggled to bounce back but chances from Pellegrini, Carles Perez, Tammy Abraham and Stephan El Shaarawy failed to pay off until the match ended in a 3-2 win for Verona.
Roma next host Udinese at the Olimpico on Thursday, the day after Verona travel to promoted Salernitana.
