Weighing Strengths And Weaknesses, DKI Jakarta Athletic Team Targets 8 Golds In PON Papua
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta athletic team is aiming for eight gold medals in the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) which is scheduled to take place on October 2-15, 2021.
The General Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Athletic Association (Pengrov PASI), Andri Paranoan, said the target was based on a SWOT analysis or Strengths (strengths), Weaknesses (weaknesses), Opportunities (opportunities), and Threats (threats).
"Our target is to get as much gold as possible and hopefully it will be in line with expectations. However, we have a proportion in determining the target," said Andri quoting ANTARA, Sunday, September 19.
"We did a SWOT analysis. With this pattern we finally determined the probability of the opportunity. There were eight golds," he said.
However, Andri did not detail the opportunity from any number. "We'll see later," he said.
If you refer to the achievements of the athletic team in the previous edition of PON in West Java in 2016, the target set tends to decrease.
At that time, the DKI Jakarta athletic team became the overall champion by pocketing 15 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze.
While the second position is occupied by the host with 7 gold, 11 silver and 6 bronze. The third was West Nusa Tenggara which brought home 5 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze.
Andri said that the achievements in West Java PON were indeed extraordinary. "There is little chance of repeating this achievement, either by DKI or other contingents," said Andri.
As for the PON Papua, the capital's athletic squad will field 32 athletes to take part in 25 of the 48 contested numbers.
"We have made preparations since 2017 until today. So it is not grandiose and promises nothing, but we will give our best," concluded Andri.
