Embrace Muhammadiyah To Expand The Shariah Economy, BI Boss: Close The Line To Face Challenges
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) signed a memorandum of understanding with PP Muhammadiyah to strengthen cooperation in accelerating the economy and Islamic finance as a form of encouraging national economic recovery.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the synergy was also a form of strengthening brotherhood with various components of society.
"In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to be grateful for His guidance, rise up and be optimistic in establishing synergies, strengthening brotherhood, closing ranks in congregation and together trying to face challenges," Perry said as quoted from the official website, Sunday, September 19.
According to Perry, there are three important strategies in cooperating with PP Muhammadiyah. First, the development of the sharia economy through the empowerment of the people-based economy.
"Several approaches in the development include group clustering approaches, capacity building for technical assistance, access to finance and digitization," he said.
Second, the knowledge that is practiced. In its implementation, Bank Indonesia is said to have carried out various sharia financial economic development programs including in the form of training, various economic empowerment programs and sharia finance including managing productive waqf.
"And the third is to maintain friendship and help each other, remind each other and teach each other in terms of virtue," he said.
On the same occasion, the General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nasir said that cooperation with the central bank is aspired to improve the economic quality of the people from the middle class so that they can move up to the top level in superior and best quality.
"Secondly, we also want Islamic economics and finance to be able to be present in a real and better way to raise the dignity and promote MSMEs, eradicate poverty and social inequality as well as economic problems faced by the people, especially due to the impact of the pandemic," he said.
Meanwhile, the signing of this memorandum of understanding was carried out on Friday, September 17, 2021 virtually.
"The strengthening of the cooperation between Bank Indonesia and PP Muhammadiyah is expected to be part of the efforts to revive the people's economy in contributing to the national economic recovery," concluded Haedar Nasir.
