Suwarno, Who Is 29 Years Selling Coconuts, Is Appointed By Bobby Nasution To Be The President Director Of Perumda Pasar
JAKARTA - Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution made an unusual breakthrough. The position of President Director (Director) of the Regional Public Company (Perumda) Pasar was given to Suwarno, a coconut artisan at the Petisah Traditional Market.
"I am a coconut trader, I have been in the Petisah Market for 29 years. So far, we have been fighting for the interests of traders, and today I am trusted to bring the aspirations of my friends," said Director of Perumda Pasar, Suwarno in Medan, Saturday, September 18.
Suwarno admitted that he was surprised when he was announced to be the number one person in the company that oversees 51 traditional markets in Medan City. How could I not, this tall, skinny man with short hair never expected to be given the mandate to advance the fate of merchants, like himself in the future.
Medan City Secretary Wiriya Alrahman as Chair of the Selection Committee for the Medan City Government BUMD Directors, Friday (17/9), announced the names of Perumda Pasar officials consisting of President Director Suwarno, Operations Director Ismail Pardede, Administrative and Finance Director Fernando H Napitupulu, and Development Director and HR Imam Abdul Hadi.
"The first thing I did after becoming the number one person in the Pasar Regional Public Company was to harmonize the Medan Mayor's program, namely cleaning the market," he said as quoted by Antara.
Cleaning is meant, he explained, is to create a clean atmosphere in the traditional market, so that it becomes a comfortable and safe place for traders and buyers.
"Cleanliness in traditional markets has long been the hope of traders, apart from illegal quotes, assets and parking. Of course, I will realize the aspirations of these traders by making improvements," said Suwarno.
It also wants to change the view that traditional markets are a breeding ground for criminal acts. Moreover, he continued, some time ago there was a robbery of a gold shop at the Simpang Limun Traditional Market in Medan.
"Indeed, that is not the authority of Perumda Pasar, but we can learn from it. It is important to improve security, and one of them, as announced by the mayor, is the installation of CCTV in the market," said Suwarno.
