Deputy Governor Of DKI: Instead Of Scratch Art Shoes, Buy MSME Shoes And Design Your Own

JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government through the Satpol PP is investigating the vandalism perpetrators at the shoe art installation in the Sudirman area, Central Jakarta. Hopefully, the culprit can be detected through CCTV scattered around the location.

"This violation is being followed up," said Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, as quoted from Instagram @arizapatria in Jakarta, Saturday, September 18.

He hopes that the perpetrators of the doodling in the artwork can be identified from surveillance cameras or CCTV scattered around Jalan Sudirman.

Riza regrets this vandalism. Instead of 'fad', Riza said that creativity can be poured through graphic design competitions or buying products for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"This scribble is not in the right place. In the future, we can facilitate it with a graphic design competition for compass shoes, or buy MSME shoes, design them yourself," he added.

Previously, only a few hours on display, the shoe-shaped art installation had already become the target of vandalism.

The DKI Tourism and Creative Economy Office together with the Jakarta Experience Board (JXB) collaborated with one of the MSME brand owners to install a giant shoe installation.

The installation by creative economy actors is planned to be displayed on 17-26 September 2021 at BNI City Taman Dukuh Atas Station in the Sudirman area, Banteng Square and Velodrome Square. The installation of the shoe will also enliven the 2021 Jakarta Collaboration Festival.

The festival is held every year which consists of various series of events, including discussions, competitions, to international forums that will discuss various important topics about the city.
