UGM Holds Limited Face-to-Face Lectures In Mid-October
YOGYAKARTA - Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta plans to hold limited face-to-face learning activities (PTM) in mid-October.
"Currently, the semester has been running for five weeks, so we will evaluate it after the midterm exam, in mid-October we will start for face-to-face learning," said UGM Chancellor Prof. Panut Mulyono, quoted by Antara, Friday, September 17.
He explained that face-to-face lectures in mid-October 2021 will prioritize new students who have never participated in activities on campus.
"UGM students who have been accepted for more than a year have not been to campus since last year, then those who were accepted this year have never been to campus. This is what we prioritize," he said.
The UGM Chancellor believes that lectures that take place online during the pandemic are still able to support the academic aspects of students.
However, Prof. Panut Mulyono is worried that if lectures continue over long distances, it will have a negative impact on the formation of students' character and attitudes in social life.
"The formation of character, the formation of 'attitude' and others of a social nature will be lacking. Whereas later they will become leaders in Indonesia," he said.
Panut Mulyono appreciated the vaccination program held by the Ministry of Transportation at UGM so that it helped accelerate the increase in the coverage of students who were vaccinated as a condition for participating in face-to-face learning.
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi held vaccinations for 23,000 residents in the Special Region of Yogyakarta along with the momentum of "National Transportation Day". One of the vaccinations was held at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM.
