Coordinating Minister Airlangga Says It's Not The Age Of Resource-Based Economy, Now Is The Time For Technological Innovation

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that science and innovation are closely related to the rate of economic growth.

According to him, the acceleration of innovation-based economic development is one of the stages in achieving the Golden Indonesia Vision in 2045.

"The paradigm of economic development that was originally based on a resource-driven economy needs to be pushed to shift to an innovation-driven economy based," he said as reported by the official website, Friday, September 17.

Airlangga added that the government is currently making various strategic efforts to realize these ideals.

First, encouraging Green Economic Research through activities that include the development of new and renewable energy, green fuel, electric vehicle facilities and infrastructure such as Fast Charging Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU).

Two, accelerating the commercialization of research and innovation results through collaboration with the business world such as industry and MSMEs, as well as with other research institutions.

"This effort is very important in technology transfer that leads to the use of modern technology that has optimal processing power," he said.

Third, improve information technology capabilities in the development of research and innovation through the use of online and offline data so that digital integration will occur.

"The development of research and innovation is in line with the digitalization trend that is currently developing," he said.

Airlangga noted that Indonesia has many potentials and opportunities that must be exploited, including the value of Indonesia's digital economy transactions is projected to reach 124 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 1,700 trillion in 2025.

"Indonesia is projected to become the country with the seventh largest Gross Domestic Product in 2045. To achieve this target, Indonesia must grow an average of 5.7 percent per year. Of course, this will only happen if the strengthening of the economic structure and the acceleration of innovation-based growth have been carried out," he continued.

Furthermore, Airlangga explained that the advancement of digital technology should be seen as an opportunity for Indonesia.

"Various studies state that Indonesia's digital economy opportunities are still wide open because it is supported by a number of factors, such as the 4th largest population in the world, with a population of productive age reaching more than 70 percent, supported by millennial generation Z, which reaches 25 percent. ," concluded the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga.
