Investigating Allegations Of Corruption In Church Construction In Mimika, KPK In Process Of Budget Discussion At DPRD

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is studying the budget discussion process at the Mimika DPRD Budget Agency regarding the construction project of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika Regency. This was done following allegations of corruption in the process of building the house of worship.

This investigation was carried out by summoning two witnesses who were members of the Mimika DPRD for the 2014-2019 period, namely Karel Gwinangge and Sony Henok on Friday, September 17.

"The witnesses were present and confirmed, among others, related to the budget discussion process at the Mimika DPRD Banggar related to the Kingmi Mile 32 Church construction project Phase 1 for the 2015 Fiscal Year in Mimika Regency," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri to reporters, Friday, 17 September.

The KPK also examined another witness, namely DPRD member Mimika Eltinus Mom. However, he did not show up without confirmation.

"The witness was not present and did not confirm the reason for his absence. So, the KPK appealed to return to attend the next examination schedule," said Ali.

Furthermore, he also said that witness examination was also conducted on Thursday, September 16 last. Three witnesses were summoned, namely Saleh Alhamid, M Nurman Karupokaro, and Paulus Yanengga, all of whom were members of the Mimika DPRD.

During the examination, witnesses were present and they were investigated regarding the discussion of the budget, similar to the one investigated by the investigators today.

As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently investigating allegations of corruption in the church construction project.

However, the anti-corruption commission has not yet described in detail the parties suspected of being involved in the alleged corruption or the construction of the case. This is the latest policy under the leadership of Firli Bahuri et al.

Even so, the KPK ensures that any developments in the alleged corruption case in the construction of this church will be conveyed in a transparent and accountable manner.
