JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Hidayat Nur Wahid, highlighted the condition of the nation which he assessed was in an alarming situation. Not only about the COVID-19 pandemic which has not ended, but also security threats both from within and outside the country.
For example, he said, there were Chinese warships going back and forth in the waters of Natuna, Riau Islands. It is known, Chinese warships were seen passing by in the North Natuna Sea, on Monday, September 13, 2021, after reports from fishermen.
"We are very concerned, in Natuna, fishermen are afraid to see Chinese warships pacing back and forth in Indonesian waters," said Hidayat Nur Wahid, quoted by VOI from his personal Twitter page, Friday, September 17.
While the threat was domestic, the senior PKS politician mentioned Papua. Where recently, the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) again terrorized the community by burning down a number of public facilities on Monday, September 14. "In Papua the health center was burned, doctors and health workers (1 died) became victims of terror and KKB attacks," he wrote.
In fact, he said, the task was very clearly stated in the fourth paragraph of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution which reads "Protecting every nation and all of Indonesia's bloodshed".
"The state should really protect all Indonesian citizens and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia as stipulated in the Constitution," said HNW.
