MAJALENGKA - Police Resort (Polres) Majalengka, West Java, arrested three perpetrators of theft and extortion. In action, the three claimed to be police officers, arrested the shopkeeper and took the victim's money of Rp9.3 million.
Majalengka Police Chief AKBP Edwin Affandi said the three fake police officers arrested were Erwin Sopyan (28), Asep Saeful (26), and Piam (28).
"The three of them are residents of Cikijing Sub-district, Majalengka Regency," said Edwin in Majalengka as reported by Antara, Thursday, September 16.
The three suspects claimed to be police officers from the Subang Police Station. Then the three went to a shop house (ruko) located in Padahanten Village, Sukahaji District, Majalengka Regency and asked for Rp. 200 thousand of money.
"The victim at that time gave the requested amount of money, because it was accompanied by threats," he also said.
Edwin said that after getting Rp200 thousand in cash, the three suspects the next day went to the same shophouse and pointed a gun at the victim.
The reason for the suspects, because someone overdosed was caused by the victim, then the victim was brought into the car with handcuffs and eyes covered with duct tape.
"The three suspects then took the money that was in the victim's bag amounting to Rp. 3 million, and then contacted the boss of the victim asking for Rp. 1.5 million," he said.
Furthermore, said Edwin, the victim's boss sent money to the victim's account as much as Rp. 1.5 million.
Then the three suspects took the victim to an ATM to take the money. When entering the ATM, the suspect drained the victim's balance of Rp. 4.5 million.
"Then after draining all the money, and taking the cellphone, the victim was dumped in the Cirebon Regency area, with his hands tied and his eyes closed with duct tape," he said.
As a result of his actions, the three suspects who are also recidivists will be charged with Article 365 and Article 368 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
