Samples Tested By PCR And Laboratory, Death Of Hundreds Of Sparrows In Cirebon Due To Extreme Weather

CIREBON - The cause of the death of hundreds of sparrows en masse at the Cirebon City Hall, West Java, from the results of laboratory tests, concluded that it was suspected that extreme weather changes.

"The provisional conclusion is that the cause of death was not due to disease, the results of the Avian Influenza PCR and the New Castle flu (ND) PCR test were negative," said Head of Agriculture and Livestock of the Cirebon City DKPPP, Iin Inayati, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 16.

Iin said that the temporary reason for the phenomenon of the death of hundreds of sparrows in the backyard of the Cirebon City Hall was due to extreme weather changes.

"The possibility of temporary estimates due to extreme weather changes," he said.

He explained that apart from the PCR test from the autopsy results of the sparrow carcass, no damage was found to the internal organs.

For this reason, he ensured that the deaths of hundreds of sparrows were not caused by a viral infection.

"What has come out is the PCR test for AI and ND, the results are negative. An autopsy to see the internal organs as well, the results did not find any changes, meaning the internal organs are normal," he said.

However, the results of the examination of the sparrow sample have not been completed. Because the sample still has to be tested in the bacteriology laboratory.

"The complete results have not been released, because there is a bacteriology lab test process," he said.
