Appearing At MTV VMA, Ed Sheeran Admits He Doesn't Like Attending Awards

JAKARTA - Singer Ed Sheeran has revealed that he does not like award shows in the United States. He made this statement after attending the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards a few days ago.

To The Julia Show, the singer of Bad Habits felt that the award ceremony was filled with hatred. "The room was filled with hatred and resentment towards everyone and the atmosphere was less than pleasant," said Ed Sheeran.

Competition between one singer with another singer makes them hope that one of them fails. "A lot of people want other people to fail and I don't like that."

Ed explains that it's not that he dislikes other singers but that he's surrounded by people who really care about them.

"All artists are sweet people but they are surrounded by an accompaniment who wants them to win, so one artist with 10 people and another artist with 10 people and everyone looks at them with one eye," he continued.

In the UK, Ed says awards shows are full of people who don't care. "Our awards show is like, everyone's drunk and it doesn't matter who wins or loses, it's just a fun get-together."

Reportedly Ed Sheeran did not attend the After Party or event after appearing at the 2021 MTV VMAs. He chose to go to a bar in Brooklyn and meet Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.
