Many Officers Died In 2019 Election, KPU Proposes Ad Hoc Body For 2024 Election
JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) proposes the 2024 General Election, including the legislative election (Pileg) and the presidential election (Pilpres) to be held on February 21, 2024. While the Pilkada 2024 is proposed on November 27.
In a working meeting with the DPR, Thursday, September 16, the KPU also submitted a number of proposals to the government, one of which was the establishment of an ad hoc body that will serve in the 2024 General Election.
"In the 2019 elections, 722 died and 798 were sick, even in the 2020 (regional head, red) election, there were 117 dead and 153 sick," said KPU chairman Ilham Saputra.
Based on the experience of the last Simultaneous Election, Ilham asked the government to ensure proper health insurance and salary for KPU officers in accordance with applicable regulations. Whether it's PPK, PPS, PPLN, KPPS, overseas KPPS, Pantarlih, and overseas Pantarlih. Ilham added that the KPU also needed the support of cross-stakeholder cooperation in facilitating needs and providing infrastructure for ad hoc agencies. The reason is, so far ad hoc agencies still lack support, for example, do not have a place to have an office. "Experience for offices, other things, many of which are not supported by the government," said Ilham. In addition, continued Ilham, the KPU also proposed the creation of a legal umbrella for technology and application systems that support ad hoc bodies. He said the KPU had also simulated the use of the recapitulation information system (Sirekap) to facilitate the work of ad hoc bodies in the 2024 election.
"So they don't need to fill out so many forms to be submitted to witnesses and supervisors at TPS," explained Ilham.
