Police Investigate Funds For Brawl Action In Manggarai
JAKARTA - Citizens' fights again occurred at the Manggarai Station railway bridge, Jalan Sultan Agung, Tebet, South Jakarta. The action of attacking each other using stones, glass bottles, firecrackers and sharp weapons was unavoidable.
According to Pieter, residents around the location, brawls in their area often occur for no apparent reason. He admitted that brawls usually occur on the Manggarai Station railway line.
"Indeed, there are often people's fights on the railroad tracks up there. The reason (brawl) is not clear, it has been a long fight. Sometimes the stones thrown by the brawlers stray everywhere," he told reporters.

Luckily, there were no casualties in this incident. The brawl was dispersed after police officers arrived at the scene and fired tear gas.
Confirmed separately, Tebet Police Chief Kompol Alexander Yurikho said the brawlers were successfully dispersed by joint officers from the Tebet Police, Setiabudi Metro Police and Menteng Metro Police.
"They (the brawlers) were members of the community who were in conflict, from the beginning before the dispute grew, they were dissolved by the joint apparatus. We put forward preventive and persuasive efforts, so that none of the perpetrators were arrested," he told VOI, Thursday, September 16.
The police chief ensured that the brawl that took place in the border area had not found any drug abuse.
"The motive is still being investigated, it has nothing to do with drug abuse," he said.
To avoid clashes from happening again, the Tebet Police stationed uniformed personnel at the scene.
"Personnel in uniform from several teams from the Patrol Unit and Pol sub-sector were deployed for guard. We have opened communication with local community leaders," he said.
The police will also investigate the perpetrators of the brawl who used firecrackers to attack opponents.
"Allegations (of the brawl funders) will be confirmed by investigation efforts," said the Sector Police Chief.
