Attacking Each Other Without Stopping, Bellingham Says Besiktas Vs Dortmund Like A Basketball Match
JAKARTA - Jude Bellingham assessed that the opening match of Group C Champions League between Besiktas vs Borussia Dortmund was so open that he felt like he was playing a basketball match.
Bellingham scored Dortmund's opener which ended in a 2-1 win over Besiktas at Vodafone Park, Istanbul, Turkey, Wednesday local time.
"It was a brilliant atmosphere. The most important thing was that we won. That was our main task tonight", Bellingham said after the match.
"The game was constantly attacking each other, it was like playing basketball", he added.
After Michy Batshuayi missed Besiktas' early chances, Bellingham opened Dortmund's lead in the 20th minute with a fine finish that tricked goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu with a volley from Thomas Meunier.
"We are very happy with this game. It is really nice to win a football game with Borussia Dortmund. We have to continue this all", said Bellingham again.
Dortmund's advantage was doubled by Erling Haaland in first-half injury time before the new hosts could reply at the end of the second half through Francisco Moreno's header.
Haland admits the match was tough as expected and the Norwegian talent, winner of the 2020/21 Champions League best striker award, admits his goals are a natural part of his job.
