Police Arrest Couple In Sergai Involved In Theft Of Laptops, BMX Bikes And Mobile Phones
MEDAN - The Perbaungan Police Criminal Investigation Unit team uncovered a case of theft by weight (curat) in Melati II Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai (Sergai) Regency, North Sumatra. Three people were arrested.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Perbaungan Police Ipda Zulpan Ahmadi said the identities of the three suspects were respectively IR (29), RM (32), and J (39).
"These three people, one perpetrator and two intermediaries are a husband and wife couple," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 15.
The arrest began with a report by a victim named Tengku Julianti (43) who lost a number of items at his residence on Saturday, September 11.
"As a result of this theft, the victim suffered a loss of around Rp. 28 million who then reported the incident to the police with evidence of the police report LP/B/218/IX/2021/SU/RES SERGAI/Sek Perbaungan," he said.
Based on the report, officers conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrators of RM at one of the internet cafes (warnet).
During the arrest, officers also confiscated items stolen by the perpetrators, namely one laptop unit, Rp. 450 thousand cash, one BMX bicycle, and two mobile phones.
"This perpetrator admitted that he had also stolen three gold rings weighing 10 grams, and three gold bracelets weighing 12 grams," he said.
The results of the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted to selling the stolen goods to the perpetrators IR and J.
Subsequently, the police carried out developments and succeeded in arresting the two middlemen at his residence, in Melati II Village, Perbaungan.
The perpetrators of RM were charged with Article 363 paragraphs 1 to 3e, 5e of the Criminal Code concerning theft with weights.
Meanwhile, the suspect of a married couple is charged with Article 363 paragraph 1 to 3e, 5e, subsidiary to Article 480 of the Criminal Code with a threat of up to 7 years in prison.
"The three of them have now been secured at the Perbaungan Police," he said.
