Teachers And Students In Cirebon Panic And Disperse From School Because Classroom Collapses

CIREBON - A classroom at SDN 2 Cangkoak, Cirebon Regency, West Java, collapsed on Tuesday, September 14 at around 08.30 WIB, after raining all day.

The room was previously used as a study area for Class IV students, but was later vacated because the school administrator judged that the condition was not proper.

"We have vacated the room since the pandemic because it was not feasible," said Head of SDN 2 Cangkoak Suhemi in Cirebon, Wednesday.

When the empty classroom collapsed, teaching and learning activities were taking place in another room.

"When the incident happened, face-to-face learning activities were taking place. Teachers and students panicked and ran outside to save themselves," said Suhemi.

"The vibration until the office felt like a small earthquake. Pull all the buildings next to it, of course when it happened we panicked," he added. After the incident, some students carried out teaching and learning activities in the school prayer room.

Suhemi explained that the SDN 2 Cengkok building is an old building that was built around 1972. He hopes that the government will immediately renovate the school building.
