Attacked By Netizens, KPI Secretary Reluctant To Talk About MS Case
JAKARTA - Secretary of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Umri hopes that the investigation process related to allegations of sexual harassment and bullying that is currently underway at the Central Jakarta Metro Police will be completed quickly. Because they are still waiting for the results of the legal process in the police.
For this reason, Umri was reluctant to comment much when asked about the details of the continuation of the case. He asked the media to be patient and wait for the ongoing legal process at the Central Jakarta Police.
He is worried that KPI will continue to be the target of bullying by netizens if they make a lot of statements related to this case.
"Later, because this is a process, yes, this is a legal process, so I ask all of you friends to be patient because we avoid statements from netizens that are extraordinary to us," said Umri after giving a statement at the Komnas HAM Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday 15 September.
He hopes that the legal process at the Central Jakarta Metro Police will become clear.
"We from KPI want this process to be completed quickly through a legal process. So what? When it ends with a legal process, we don't have anything right or wrong, the source comes from there," he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of KPI Mulyo Hadi Purnomo also stated that his party did not make much effort in dealing with bullying and sexual harassment that occurred between employees. This is because the KPI has completely handed over the handling of the case to the police.
When asked about the internal investigation conducted by KPI, Mulyo replied that the investigation was only aimed at the interests of the agency. For example, if KPI is asked by Commission I of the DPR regarding this harassment case, it already has an answer.
"If we don't know at all, it feels strange, how come this is suspected to have happened at KPI, why can't we convey that. We are also seen as wrong. So we are only digging up basic information, but further processes and details are related to deepening and investigating We will leave the case to the police," he said.
