Self-isolating, Putin: We'll See How Sputnik V Works

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin is in good health despite being in self-isolation after several people in his close circle were infected with the corona virus. Putin is now waiting to see how the Sputnik V vaccine works in his body.

The Kremlin confirmed that Putin had tested negative. Through the video, Putin confirmed that he was completely healthy and did not have any symptoms.

"This is a natural experiment. Let's see how the Sputnik V works in practice," Putin said.

"I have a fairly high antibody level. Let's see how it goes in real life. I hope everything will be as it should be."

Russian President Vladimir White chose to self-isolate after a member of his entourage became infected with COVID-19. Putin also canceled a trip to Tajikistan for a regional security meeting, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

Vladimir Putin, 68, was due to travel to Tajikistan for a high-level meeting of the regional alliances CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) and SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization), with the rapid deteriorating security in neighboring Afghanistan in focus.

The Kremlin said in a statement on Tuesday President Putin had called Tajikistan's President Emomali Rakhmon to explain he was unable to travel, as he would be in isolation and would take part in virtual meetings.

President Putin is known to have received a COVID-19 vaccination using the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine in April, reports Sputnik News.
