President Jokowi Scheduled To Receive The Presidential Baton At The G20 Summit In Rome
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would receive the baton of the G20 Presidency from the Italian Prime Minister at the close of the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy, at the end of October 2021.
"Mr President Joko Widodo will attend the closing of the G20 Summit in Rome on October 30-31 and there, the President will officially accept the handover of the G20 Presidency baton from the Italian PM to the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said Airlangga, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, 14 September.
Indonesia will officially become the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2021 to November 2022 with the theme Recover Together, Recover Stronger or recover together and recover stronger. The G20 presidency during 2021-2022 is the first time that Indonesia has hosted the G20, since the association which contributes to 85 percent of the world's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was founded in 1999.
During the G20 presidency in Indonesia, Airlangga said there would be many meetings held between delegates from various countries.
Indonesia has prepared 5 pillars of priority agenda that will be fought for at the G20 Summit, namely firstly increasing productivity for recovery or promoting productivity, secondly increasing resilience and stability or building a tough world economy post-pandemic, thirdly ensuring sustainability and inclusive growth or ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth. .
"Then enabling environment and partnership, this creates a conducive environment and partnership with stakeholders and forging a stronger global collective leadership. This is global collective leadership to strengthen solidarity," said Airlangga.
Several series of G20 Summit events that Indonesia has prepared include 150 meetings with several events throughout the year from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022.
The meeting is in the form of a working group which will be attended by deputies, ministers to heads of state and government.
"The number of meeting delegates is around 500-5800 people per event throughout the year and in accordance with the direction of the President, the meeting will be held in a hybrid manner taking into account the conditions for controlling COVID-19 and also physically in accordance with existing parameters," said Airlangga.
Airlangga also ensured that the side event under the Indonesian Presidency would follow health parameters, implement health protocols, and be based on pandemic developments in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) standards.
"And related to vaccination requirements, of course, it is determined and carried out in various regions where the availability of hospitals is classified as A," he said.
