To Host The G20 Summit, Airlangga Hartarto: Indonesia Brings The Theme Of Economic Recovery

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said Indonesia would host a grand event in the economic field, namely the G20 Summit. This event will start on December 1, 2021 until November 30, 2022.

In this event, Indonesia carries the theme 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger'. The theme reflects the shared passion for economic and health recovery among the member countries of the G20.

"The G20 presidency will officially start on December 1-30 November 2022 with the main theme Recover Together, Recover Stronger," he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, August 14.

Airlangga said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would attend the closing of the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy on October 30 to 31. He said, at the event, Jokowi would officially accept the handover of the G20 presidency baton from the Italian PM to the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

To support the Indonesian Presidency, said Airlangga, Indonesia has prepared five priority pillars, namely first, increasing productivity for recovery or promoting productivity. Second, increasing resilience and stability or building a resilient world economy after the pandemic.

Third, ensuring sustainability and inclusive growth or ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth. Fourth, enabling environment and partnership, this creates a conducive environment and partnership with stakeholders.

"And forging a stronger global collective leadership is global collective leadership to strengthen solidarity," he explained.

The former Minister of Industry said that several series had been prepared when Indonesia officially served as the G20 Presidency, namely 150 meetings with several events throughout the year from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022. The meeting was in the form of a working group which would be attended by deputies, ministers and heads of state. and government.

"The number of meeting delegates is around 500-5800 people per event throughout the year and in accordance with the direction of the President, the meeting will be carried out in a hybrid manner taking into account the conditions for controlling COVID-19 and also physically in accordance with existing parameters," he said.

Indonesia, said Airlangga, will ensure that side event meetings under the Indonesian Presidency will follow health parameters, implement health protocols, conduct level assessments of the pandemic in accordance with WHO standards.
