3 Days Disappear, Elementary School Student In Nias Found Dead

MEDAN - Fitri A Waruwu, a grade 6 elementary school (SD) student in Nias Regency, North Sumatra was found dead after three days missing.

His body was found in a resident's garden in Hamlet V, Sitolubanua Village, Bawalato District, Nias Regency, Monday, September 13.

"The victim's body was found by the family and assisted by residents of Sitolubanua Village who conducted a search in the plantation area. During the search, residents smelled an unpleasant odor. It turned out to be from the victim's body," said Nias Police Chief, AKBP Wawan Iriawan through Paur Subdivision of Public Relations, Aiptu Yadsen F Hulu when confirmed, Tuesday, September 14th.

Before being found dead, Yadsen said the victim had not returned to his home since Friday, September 10. After searching until Sunday, Fitri was not found. Then he was declared missing and the family made a report to the Bawlato Police.

After learning that the victim had died, then the Head of Hamlet V of Sitolubanua Village, Eman Rifyu Halawa, informed the findings to the Bawalato Police. Officers checked the location.

"The position of the victim when he was found face down in a ditch and on top of the victim was covered with grass and banana leaves and then cleaned. Then the victim's body was taken to the Bawalato Health Center for examination," said Yadsen.

Because the condition of the victim's body had begun to decompose, the victim's body was taken to Thomsen Gunungsitoli Hospital for an external post-mortem. As a result, because the victim's body began to decompose, the cause of death of the victim could not be ascertained by means of an external post-mortem.

"Furthermore, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of the victim and examine witnesses," he explained.

From the location of the discovery, officers secured evidence in the form of the victim's clothing, such as a pair of red shorts with green stripes worn by the victim. Then one piece of T-shirt with a Micky Mouse print as well as one piece of underwear and the victim's bra.

"The cause of the victim's death is still under investigation by the joint team of the Bawolato Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nias Police. An investigation is underway to reveal it," said Aiptu Yadsen.
