Fantastic Beasts Cast And A String Of Controversies

JAKARTA - In making a film, there are always problems that accompany it. This is nothing new in the film industry. However, what if the film hasn't been made yet but is already faced with some controversy? The Harry Potter franchise Fantastic Beasts is in the spotlight because of this.

The sequels that were countless successes compared to the first series were enough for Warner Bros to continue the story of this film. However, with the three stars being dragged into the case, the production house is faced with a number of controversies.

First, there is Johnny Depp, who plays Gellert Grindelwald who is currently undergoing legal proceedings related to domestic violence (KDRT) claimed by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Depp denied these allegations at the first trial.

Depp, who claims to be a heavy drinker, has never attacked his ex-wife. Instead, the Mera actor in the film Aquaman attacked Depp in a leaked footage.

Then Ezra Miller, who played Credence Barebone in Fantastic Beasts, was subjected to social criticism after being seen strangling a fan in Iceland. Starting with a joke, Miller even responded to the fan by choking him to the ground.

Known as a friendly actor, Miller's treatment caused a negative response among fans, especially those who like Fantastic Beasts. Since then, the actor has not confirmed anything regarding the video featuring himself on the internet.

Fantastic Beasts script writer JK Rowling was also faced with controversy after his statement regarding transgender people. Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter, replied to this statement.

Having a different context, these three cases become points considering that all three are famous stars. With the decline in sales in the sequel Fantastic Beasts (654 United States dollars), it does not mean that in the future ticket sales can return high.

On the other hand, the production house will lose a lot if they decide on the Fantastic Beasts franchise midway through the story. The third film is scheduled to air in 2021, but until now filming has not restarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seeing the controversy and the unfinished filming process, it seems difficult to wait for the third part of Fantastic Beasts. Until now, the Warner Bros. production house also has not yet expressed its opinion regarding the three controversies that befell their three stars.
