Follow Apple, Samsung Will Sell Smartphones Without Charger Heads
JAKARTA - It seems that smartphone sales packages without a charger or charging adapter will become a trend in 2021. The reason is that after Apple, now Samsung is also reportedly not going to include a charger head in the sales box.
As quoted by The Verge from a report by the Korean news site ETNews, the accessories that are available in the smartphone sales package will be sold separately. This step was taken by Samsung in order to reduce production costs and sales costs.
"With the assumption that charging accessories are 'already sold in the market', especially since the 10 years since the release of Samsung smartphones," quoted from ETNews, Thursday, July 9.
Samsung Electronic is also still considering this plan with a number of its development partners. Samsung also has not confirmed which smartphone models will be sold without a charger.
Previously, Apple was also rumored not to include adapter heads and airpods in the sales package for the iPhone 12. Apple plans to sell these accessories separately with a new 20W faster charging model.
According to technology analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the removal of adapter heads and airpods accessories will reduce the cost of selling their phones, as well as to make iPhone packaging more compact.
Neither Samsung nor Apple have clearly announced the plan. But if this is true, smartphone consumers are forced to buy the charger head separately or maybe use the model from the previous cellphone.
