5 Thefts In The Mode Of Broken Car Glass Arrested By The Serang Police
SERANG - The Serang Police, Banten, arrested 5 suspects in a syndicate of stealing goods in a car with the mode of breaking car windows.
The five suspects who were arrested are EW, BG, and KS from East OKU and DS and LS from Sukabumi, West Java.
"The arrests were based on reports from the public, so the Serang City Police Jatanras Team immediately responded to the report," said Serang City Police Chief AKBP Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 13.
"From the results of the investigation, the officers drew conclusions and identified the fingerprints left on the BB car and CCTV, we conclude that there are 10 suspected perpetrators," said the Serang Police Chief.
From this information, his party immediately went to the location of the suspects carrying out the weight theft activities and finally managed to secure 5 suspects.
"We have secured 5 suspects until yesterday," said Maruli Hutapea.
AKBP Hutapea explained that the modus operandi of the perpetrators of this weight theft was to look at the cars that had stopped on the side of the road, then look inside to see if there was anything visible in the seats.
If seen in the car there are valuable items such as wallets, bags or other valuables and the situation allows, the suspects immediately take action.
"But first, they inflated the tires of the prospective victim's car. When the victim got out of the car to ask for help, the perpetrator took action," said AKBP Hutapea.
AKBP Hutapea said the stolen goods were sent to the concerned village in Sumatra.
The police are still hunting for the other perpetrators because it is suspected that there are still other suspects who have not been caught, including the custodians.
"For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison," said AKBP Hutapea.
