Free From Kerobokan Prison, 2 Filipino Ex-ATM Skimming Convicts Deported From Bali

DENPASAR - The Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) Denpasar, Bali deported two ATM skimming perpetrators from the Philippines, Yzobel Antonio Tagle Almeida and Adrian Delos Santos Ambayec, after completing their sentences in Class IIA Kerobokan Prison.

"Both of them were detained for 1 year and 6 months at the Kerobokan Class II A Penitentiary for committing a crime, namely ATM skimming in the Ubud area, and will then be deported," said Head of the Bali Kemenkumham Regional Office, Jamaruli Manihuruk, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 13.

He said the two foreigners were deported for violating Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. RI. 6 of 2021 concerning Immigration in conjunction with Article 30 paragraph (2) and Jo Article 46 paragraph (2) of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.

Furthermore, the two foreigners have been deported and proposed to be added to the Directorate General of Immigration's deterrence list.

Both were deported at 13.00 WIB through Gate 4 terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta International Airport using Philippine Airlines flight number PR540 for the Jakarta (CGK) - Ninoy Aquino (MNL) route.

Previously, the two foreigners departed from the Denpasar Rudenim with an escort of officers from the Denpasar Rudenim to Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport, and were then flown to Jakarta using a Batik Air plane at 08.00 WITA.

Previously, the two foreigners came to Bali on February 4, 2020 using a Visit Visa Free. Then, he was detained for 1 year and 6 months at the Class II A Penitentiary in Kerobokan because of the ATM skimming case in the Ubud area.

The skimming activity was known to have taken place on February 16, 2020, after a hidden camera was found on the ATM machine at BNI Market Ubud, Jalan Raya Monkey Forest Ubud, Gianyar.

After further investigation, the two Filipinos were arrested at a villa in the Padang Tegal area, Ubud, where the two of them were temporarily living. From that incident, both of them were further processed at the Bali Police Headquarters.

Exactly on July 12, 2021, both of them were declared free to serve their criminal period in prison, then were picked up by the Immigration Office Special Class I TPI Ngurah Rai for Immigration checks.

On July 15, 2021, the two foreigners were handed over to the Denpasar Rudenim for a four-month detention process in order to wait for the deportation process to their country of origin.
