Minister Of Health Budi Gunadi Reveals 5 Provinces With Vaccination Percentage Below 20 Percent

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said there were a number of provinces where the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine was injected below 20 percent. As directed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the Minister of Health requested that the vaccination be accelerated.

"There are five provinces that are still below 20 percent for the first injection, namely Lampung which is still around 15 percent, West Sumatra 18 percent, North Maluku 18 percent, and Papua 19 percent," said Budi in a press conference broadcast on the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries' YouTube, Monday. September 13.

The Minister of Health hopes that local governments with vaccine percentage levels below 20 percent can optimize their resources with the help of the ministry and the National Police. So, the delay in giving the COVID-19 vaccine can be quickly caught up.

"Our hope is that we can cooperate with local governments more quickly to increase the percentage of vaccination injections above 20 percent," said the former Deputy Minister of BUMN.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 vaccines that have been received in the country to date has reached 169 million doses. Of that amount, 157 million doses have been sent to a number of regions, 9 million are on the way, and 3 million doses are kept by the central government for reserves.

Thus, 41 million doses that are now remaining are requested to be immediately given to the public.

"Considering that from January to June we only injected 70 million doses," said Budi.

The Minister of Health also informed that Indonesia is now in the sixth position in giving vaccines globally for the first dose.

"After China, India, America, Brazil, Japan, then Indonesia occupies the sixth position in terms of the number of vaccinations that have been given in the world," he concluded.
