Luhut Asks People To Understand Why The Government Often Changes PPKM Policies
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the public to understand the government's attitude which often changes restriction policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During PPKM, the government has indeed set rules for limiting activities with level assessments. However, the government also often changes or adds a number of rules in implementing the PPKM.
Luhut is aware that this policy change can be considered by residents as an inconsistent policy. However, the government must do this.
"Maybe this is often read as a fluctuating policy, or it is often read as an inconsistent policy. That is precisely what we have to do, to find the best combination between the health interests and the economic interests of the community," Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday. , September 13th.
According to him, policy adjustments were also made considering the ever changing and mutating corona virus. So, the handling must also change according to the challenges faced.
Most importantly, continued Luhut, President Jokowi emphasized that the objectives and direction of the policy were consistently adhered to, but the strategy and field management had to dynamically adapt to problems and challenges.
"Tightening and easing of community mobility, for example, must be carried out at the latest every week, by referring to the latest data," he said.
