Mud Cover Pedestrians, Pedestrian Safety Is At Risk

JAKARTA - A number of pedestrians in the West Cempaka Putih area complained about the construction of the canal. This is because the pedestrians used by pedestrians are covered in mud and heavy equipment on Jalan Cempaka Putih Barat XXVI, Central Jakarta.

Rian (26), one of the pedestrians, regretted that the construction of the canal at the location was not followed by maintaining comfort for pedestrians. Pedestrians that functioned as pedestrian areas have turned into mud and heavy equipment parking lots.

"It can be seen, the mud is just playing with it, heavy equipment too. It's okay to build it, it's okay, but don't be like this, which is considered careless", he said at the location, Monday, September 13.

According to Rian, a construction like this should put mud in a sack. Don't just play and put it on the pedestrian to the highway. Not to mention this is a piece of heavy equipment that is placed on the pedestrian.

"When we walk on the highway, what if we get hit. Who wants to be responsible", he said.

The same complaint was also expressed, Ridwan (27) who asked for channel work not to neglect cleanliness and comfort for pedestrians. Because the concrete material for the channel is placed above the pedestrian.

"I hope this development will not be like this. We also have the right to use this pedestrian", he said.

Meanwhile, the West Cempaka Putih Village Head, Parsono said that his party had asked the Cempaka Putih Sub-district Water Resources Satpel to accelerate its construction. This is to provide comfort for local residents, especially pedestrians.

"It disturbs me but I have asked for it to be accelerated. When it is finished, there will be community service there to do the cleaning", he said.

Parsono said that the construction of the canal has been carried out since mid-August 2021. In this location, it is always flooded during the rainy season because the water capacity of the channel is very small.
