Remembering Dr. Azhari's Ambush, The Story Of A Neighbor Whose House Became The 'headquarters' Of Densus 88
JAKARTA - 16 years ago, November 9, 2005, the actions of Dr. Azhari - the mastermind and mastermind of a number of terror acts in Indonesia - ended in Batu Malang City. This is a story from neighbor Dr Azhari about the most stressful day of his life at that time.
The name of Dr Azhari's neighbor is Eddy Sutanto. His house was only a stone's throw from where Eddy had been hiding all this time.
It was 11 o'clock at that time. Everything happened so fast.
That afternoon, Eddy caught a very different atmosphere than usual. Many foreign cars were going back and forth and around his house.
One of the cars suddenly stopped in front of his house. Then several policemen asked permission to enter Eddy's house.
"After the incident, I just found out that it was Densus 88," said Eddy as seen from the BNPT Public Relations YouTube Channel last week.
When inside, they immediately prepared long-barreled weapons like they were going to war. There is no information on what will happen to Eddy and his wife. They still think that the police are raiding drug dealers.
Eddy and his wife were curious, trying to survive in front of the terrace waiting for what happened. Finally, the police orders came and made him realize that this raid was not an ordinary thing.
"Ma'am, come in ma'am, come in, there are a lot of bombs," said Densus 88 to Eddy's wife.
Now the house, which is located in the Flamboyan housing estate, Batu City, East Java, is still being left in ruins. The house is surrounded by weeds around the yard.
The shattered roof of the house and the walls are still left as is. Several bullet holes were still clearly visible as a result of Dr Azhari's shootout with Detachment 88 troops.
